Women in Retirement Living (WiRL) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to empowering women and other underrepresented groups across the retirement living sector. With the rapid growth of the UK retirement living sector, there is a critical need to address issues of diversity, gender inequality, and social mobility. WiRL exists to ensure that these challenges are not only recognised but actively tackled.
Through networking, knowledge sharing, and mentoring, WiRL provides a platform for individuals at all stages of their careers to connect, grow, and thrive. The network unites professionals from across real estate, care, legal, operations, finance, and design, offering opportunities to collaborate, share insights, and drive change.
WiRL hosts regular events, including panel discussions, roundtables, and networking events, designed to foster community, elevate diverse voices, and champion inclusive leadership. The organisation also works with industry stakeholders to challenge stereotypes and encourage innovation in how we design, deliver and operate later living communities.
We believe that growing and evolving the retirement living sector is fundamental to our society’s future, and that maximising the contributions of a wide diversity of people is essential to achieving that goal.
