Richard Hinchliffe is Director Corporate Banking Sector Strategies and Sustainable Finance at ANZ Bank New Zealand. Joining ANZ in 2009 Richard established the ANZ Healthcare team with a particular focus on the Retirement Village and Aged Care sectors. Building a team of sector specialists ANZ has become the leading lender in the sector and today the sector has grown its penetration of over 75s to around 14%. During this time Richard has seen the sector develop its strong proposition, different living product, new care models, establish construction teams, increase prices and have a greater focus on climate change and sustainability.
Born in Yorkshire, England, Richard has worked in a broad range of banking roles in Yorkshire, London, Hong Kong, UAE and New Zealand. This platform has given Richard a strong interest in international business and an appreciation of how a diversified team helps achieve great outcomes. Using his broad banking and business experience, today, Richard is part of ANZ’s Corporate Banking Team focused on Sustainable Finance, Retirement Villages, Healthcare, Maori business and Sector Strategy. Richard is part of the working group that recently created and launched ANZ’s Business Green Loan. The Green Loan is the first mass market Green Loan in New Zealand.
