Stephen is a resident in the retirement village Great Alne Park, one of the Inspired Villages communities, located close to Stratford-upon-Avon. He was a founding Partner of Burge Hughes Walsh, a successful consultancy, formed in 2000, which has helped a considerable number of businesses improve their performance. Now retired, Stephen applies himself to helping create a dynamic and lively environment in the village. Some of the activities that he organises for his fellow residents include the the screening of two/three films every week, a popular monthly presentation about astronomy and the cosmos, a not-so-secret ‘whisky walk’ in the 78 acres of parkland that surround the village, and attends the various classes for healthy living. A stout advocate of physical, mental and social wellbeing, Stephen interprets independent living as “maintaining mental and physical agility with support from staff and neighbours to be able to grow old in your own home, with a great quality of life”.
